What Makes Golf Addictive?
Before we go into details on how many people play golf, I would like to tell you what I find so addictive about the game…
I struggled with golf just a few years ago. I would go out and hit balls at the driving range and then go play a round of golf, but I just couldn't seem to improve. I would get so frustrated because I knew I had the potential to be a good golfer, but I just couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong.
One day, I was watching a golf tournament on TV and I saw one of the players doing something differently than I had been doing. He was using a different grip on his club. I decided to try it the next time I went to the driving range. It felt strange at first, but I was hitting the ball better than I ever had before.
I started practicing with this new grip and my game started to improve. I began to understand why golf is so addictive. It is a challenging game that requires a lot of skill and practice. I loved the feeling of finally understanding something that I had been struggling with for so long.
I made a plan to practice every day and to play in as many local tournaments as I could. I knew that I could improve my game if I just kept at it. I experienced some conflict along the way when things didn't go as planned, but I was determined to stick with it.
The transformation I experienced was amazing. I went from being a frustrated golfer who couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong, to a confident player who knew that I could improve with practice. My game improved dramatically and I even started winning tournaments. (Not any big ones though, yet…) Golf has become a huge part of my life and I am passionate about it.
Now that you know why I and so many other golfers worldwide find the game so addictive, let’s move forward to the details…
