A community of stories is worth more to this site than any amount of money. That's an honest statement, not a pitch.

What Kind of Story Are We Looking For?

Shorter than you think, and worse than you're worried about. The test that actually matters: if your group has told this story at least twice, it belongs here.

A few kinds of stories tend to work especially well — none of these are requirements:

• A bet or side game that turned into something nobody planned — the kind where someone's still technically owed money two years later.
• A buddy trip moment that quietly became a tradition your group now repeats without ever discussing it.
• Getting thrown together with strangers and the first-tee nerves of meeting people you'd never played with — whether it worked out or didn't.
• The actual story of how you got into golf in the first place, if it's a good one.
• The regular round that kept happening long after it stopped being convenient — because that's what playing with the same group long enough actually does.

It doesn't need a lesson. It doesn't need a tidy ending. It doesn't need to make you look good. From what I've noticed, the ones that make you look the worst tend to be the most fun to read.

I'm still not totally sure how a sprinkler head became a legitimate putting rule in our group, but the guy who invented it on the spot — four-putted from two feet, blamed the sprinkler, invented a rule nobody had the energy to argue with, and somehow still won the hole — that's our most-told story. Nobody remembers what anyone shot that day. Everybody remembers the sprinkler.

After that, I read your submission myself. If it fits the Weekend Golfer Life pages — and most of them do — it gets a light edit (no rewriting, no added facts, your voice stays your voice) and goes live where the rest of the community can find it. If I need to make any change bigger than a typo fix, I'll reach out first. If I have to pass on a story entirely, the Playbook is still yours. The trade doesn't depend on publication.

What you get either way: the Playbook, a byline and shareable link if we publish, and the slightly strange satisfaction of watching your group's story reach a wider Golfeasers community than your parking lot conversation ever did. Questions About the Trade

Does my story have to be any good?

No. A forgettable Tuesday counts. The Playbook's own FAQ mentions I once four-putted from twelve feet in front of strangers I was trying to impress — that's the standard we're working with here. If something happened on a golf course and your group has mentioned it since, it qualifies.

How do I actually get the Playbook?

It gets delivered to the email address you put in the form. You don't have to wait for me to review the story first — the Playbook comes to you when you submit.

What if you don't end up publishing my story — do I still keep the Playbook?

Yes, the Playbook is yours either way. The trade is your story in exchange for the Playbook — not your story in exchange for a chance at the Playbook. Those are different things.

Can I stay anonymous?

Yes. A first name, a nickname, or just "the trip captain" — whatever you're comfortable with. Let me know in the form notes and I'll use it.

What if my story makes me look bad?

That's usually what makes it good. Self-deprecating is more fun to read than impressive. If the story involves someone else looking bad too, give them the same courtesy you'd want for yourself.

What happens to my email?
